For the 9th year in a row, the Highlands hosted the Louisville Zombie Attack, the world’s largest zombie walk. It’s an incredible sight to see an estimated 20,000 participants decked out in various stages of zombificaion. It’s not an official parade so the zombies come from everywhere, even though the informal staging area is the Mid City Mall.
9 years ago, the Zombie Attack began as a kind of flash mob of people, growing out of an idea from a Pittsburgh world record attempt. The word spread in a very low tech way (pen and paper) with the hopes of maybe a dozen or so people participating. It turned out to be over 100. Since then, things have grown and zombie walks have appeared all over the world.
