This was actually 9 years ago yesterday, but I got so busy with the day job I didn’t have time to create this post. But I think it’s so good, I decided not to wait for a 10 years ago post in 364 days. Obviously it was made during March Insanity (you know what it’s really called, but the NCAA won’t let anyone say it unless you’re giving them money) and the University of Louisville was doing well.
About a year ago, I wrote an opinion piece regarding the Confederate Monument that currently stains the otherwise attractive University of Louisville campus. Now, over 365 days later, the monument is still there, but finally there’s some real discussion of the very real possibility of moving that offensive obelisk. When you find yourself lucky enough to cover a top 10 NCAA college basketball team, you want to do it right. When you’re an alum of the school, you want to do it even better. That’s the answer I give my family when they ask why I get to the game so early which is typically 90 minutes before tip-off. In that time period, you get to do your homework, pick out the match ups you want to make sure to get shots of and enjoy the stuff going on behind the television cameras. Last night the University of Louisville basketball Cardinals made another appearance on ESPN’s Big Monday broadcast by taking on old rival Cincinnati. The Cards rolled the team from up I-71 67-51 as they look to go into the Big East tournament. Thankfully, Louisville.com had enabled me to see every home game with my camera. On Saturday, I found myself inside the KFC Yum! Center for a battle between the University of Louisville Cardinals and the Seton Hall Pirates.
