FLASHBACK: 9 Years Ago

This was actually 9 years ago yesterday, but I got so busy with the day job I didn’t have time to create this post. But I think it’s so good, I decided not to wait for a 10 years ago post in 364 days. Obviously it was made during March Insanity (you know what it’s really called, but the NCAA won’t let anyone say it unless you’re giving them money) and the University of Louisville was doing well.

The Wrong Side of History…Again

About a year ago, I wrote an opinion piece regarding the Confederate Monument that currently stains the otherwise attractive University of Louisville campus. Now, over 365 days later, the monument is still there, but finally there’s some real discussion of the very real possibility of moving that offensive obelisk. Other Scenes at the Bucket

If you remember, critics derided the assumed nickname of the downtown basketball arena when Yum! Brands assumed the role of title sponsor. How could they not name the arena after KFC? Would there be the same connection to the community if they had called it the Long John Silver’s Yum! Center? Continue reading “Other Scenes at the Bucket”

Is Ashton already three?

Ashton's Third Birthday photo shoot by Tim Girton

Our friend Whitney hired us for our photographic skills to document the third birthday of her son Ashton. And since they’re big University of Louisville Cardinal fans, we went to the Belknap campus to get some of the ambiance of the sports program of 2013. Continue reading “Is Ashton already three?”

That’s the answer I give my family when they ask why I get to the game so early which is typically 90 minutes before tip-off. In that time period, you get to do your homework, pick out the match ups you want to make sure to get shots of and enjoy the stuff going on behind the television cameras. The Louisville basketball Cardinals continue to cruise, Rick Pitino gets number 300

Last night the University of Louisville basketball Cardinals made another appearance on ESPN’s Big Monday broadcast by taking on old rival Cincinnati. The Cards rolled the team from up I-71 67-51 as they look to go into the Big East tournament. Thankfully, Louisville.com had enabled me to see every home game with my camera. Louisville basketball in the second half

Here comes Russ.
Here comes Russ.

On Saturday, I found myself inside the KFC Yum! Center for a battle between the University of Louisville Cardinals and the Seton Hall Pirates. And during the game, I tried a different method of covering with the express purpose of filing my story faster and more efficiently I’m not sure it will work for the two home games we have left, but it felt good. Louisville basketball back on track, This Is Louisville displays a new look

Okay, the two subjects in the title don’t have much to do with each other, if anything, but it was a way to work in the fact that the two entities broke out in something new. Continue reading “Louisville basketball back on track, This Is Louisville displays a new look”
