SKETCHBOOK: A Few More

We had some extra time this past weekend so we got a few more photos of London and Brayden. Misty had a couple of ideas including this one and luckily campus cooperated by parking a bus nearby. Continue reading “SKETCHBOOK: A Few More”

SKETCHBOOK: Three Point Stance

When we do senior photos, we always include something important to the senior we’re shooting. Since London is my son, it was easy to figure out what we were going to do aside from the regular “smile for dad” type of photos. Lucky for us, his coach is awesome and let us do some photos in the new school uniform prior to their season debut. The jersey looks awesome and London looks incredible. But I might be biased.

SKETCHBOOK: London and Brayden

I think we may have accidentally shot Valley High School’s 2017 football poster with my son London and his friend and quarterback Brayden. I always have fun shooting senior photos, but this was particularly awesome for my own personal reasons.

SKETCHBOOK: London’s Senior Photos

We grabbed a few preliminary senior photos of my son London in the new Valley High School jerseys. The idea was to get him looking his most handsome, my concern, and to also look like a badass, his idea. I think it worked on this shot. More to come.

Prom Night for London

What a transitional year for my family, mostly due to the maturation of my son London. He’s a high school junior. He just turned 17. He has a serious girlfriend. And he just went to his first prom. That young lady in the cover photo is Danielle and that was his date for that traditionally pivotal high school dance ceremony, this year at the Mellwood Arts Center. My Best of Times

On Monday I discussed my challenges over the past month and alluded to the yang to that yin, i.e., the best of times. That happened when my daughter Talia came home. I don’t think my heart could have soared any higher when I saw her after so many months of her being away in Latin America. Continue reading “My Best of Times”

Football: Atherton at Valley

Valley High School head football coach Alan Campos and his 2016 Vikings hosted their home opener last night looking for this season’s first win. For Campos, he also wanted his first win as the man in charge, moving up from the assistant ranks this year. Continue reading “Football: Atherton at Valley”

Football: Valley at Pleasure Ridge Park

Football season in the Jefferson County Public School system opened last night with games all across the city. The one I paid attention to involved my son London. He’s a Valley Viking and they played arch rival Pleasure Ridge Park in hostile territory. The outcome didn’t work out in the Vikings favor and, as a fan, you could see some unfairness going on but my fellow football parents and I had to chalk it up to home field bias. PRP got to keep that snowman that they play for by winning 32-0. Continue reading “Football: Valley at Pleasure Ridge Park”

The Football Season is Around the Corner

It’s fairly obvious that I enjoy watching the Valley Vikings, and my son London, play football. The football parents and I have seen this team come a long way. During London’s freshman season, the varsity team didn’t win a single game. However, since our kids also played J.V. ball, we knew something special could happen. Last year, London’s sophomore campaign, the team made it to the playoffs. Continue reading “The Football Season is Around the Corner”
